What do you need to build a successful online course that you can sell for high-ticket?

First of all you need a course idea, a topic or niche. Then you have to build the main modules, let's say 6 modules. These are the frame of your course. Later on when you have attendees you add more and more based on the feedback and need of your audience.

You also need a design and a platform where you place your course. You need a payment system, where the buyers can pay. Later you may need affiliates who sell your course for commission, and you can automate it. Also you can place your course to an online marketplace where people can find it.

You need a good copy, some images and videos (optional) to make it appealing for your audience.

Then the next part is selling your course:
You need leads who you sell to. You can build your lead database with paid ads or organic. I do the organic way. It means strategic posting and commenting in Facebook groups, direct them to my book with a strong lead magnet, build a relationship with them (warm them up) and then make a sale. All free and organic, half an hour work per day, that I outsourced to freelancers for $1.5/ hour or commission based.

In short this is what you need to create and sell your course for high-ticket.

How to create your online course?

You can start your first course to be a mini course.

1.) Define your niche
Come up with a topic. What is it that you are the most knowledgable about? What can you talk about a lot without any preparation? What is your favourite topic? What do you have the most expertise in? Join my Facebook group and download my Free guide about selecting your niche. It has 35 questions that help you define your specific niche.

2.) Make a market research
It is good to know about your competitors. So check them. Also ask your audience about their interest and opinion. You can't figure it out on your own. If you need help with this, you can apply to work with me, and as your business coach I can brainstorm with you about it. Check how saturated the market is in your selected niche and what can be your competitive advantage, what makes you different and unique. You can create surveys, questionnaires, Google Forms to ask people.

3.) Title your course
Your course needs a title. Based on the topic it should be something simple, catchy, searchable and creative. Ask your followers for suggestions, or join Facebook groups and post this as a question. You will be surprised how many great title ideas members will comment.

4.) Write your curriculum
Outline your course, map out your modules (main themes and steps). These are for example 6 Modules, the basic of your course. Later as you improve and get feedback you can make subtopics and add more and more. To start with you don't have to overcomplicate the process. A module is like a chapter of a book. Lessons, tutorials are sub-modules (parts of the main modules) You don't have to write all the content when you start creating your course. It is too much work and totally unnecessary. It is better if you create it as you go, when you can get feedback. You can make a mixed format: some parts are ready-made (recorded) and some parts live. (Zoom sessions or private coaching calls) You can update your content any time.

5.) Find your host platform
You need a hosting platform for your course. I use a CRM for this ($100/month) that provides everything me and my clients need. On this platform building a course is very fast and easy. It is a drag and drop surface where you just drag the elements from the left to the right. And voila! Your membership site is ready! I help you make the settings and automation and you can launch your course!

6.) Decide about the price
and create your price structure. Give the duration (lenght) of the course, the format (1:1 or group), your services, bonuses, extras (if you have) and all details. Determine if you give a payment plan, or some extras if somebody pays in full. You can use Paypal, Stripe, or other payment platforms. The CRM that I use has both and it is automated. Is it low ticket or high-ticket? Do you have a price ladder? (starting from low ticket or free up to very high-ticket (eg. $30K and more...) What is your strategy?

7.) Design your course
I wrote an article about branding, you can create your moodboard, use 2-3 main colors, use Canva or Canva Pro, Figma, Crello or other design platforms to create some design. You don't have to be professional, I am an ESL teacher.... and I could learn the basics. If you want to have very professional design I advice you to hire a designer. Try to use high-resolution, big-size images so they don't pixelate and look good on any platform. Check your design on computer, tablet and mobile phone too.

8.) Create the actual course content
and upload it to your platform. It can have different formats and the mix of them. I like using all formats: text, images, audio, video, infographics, downloadable .pdf (guides) and even simple .doc or .docs document files. (scripts, templates, agreement samples, etc.) You don't need long videos, 2-15 minute videos are more than enough. And just like I said you can always add more. I prefer having all types of content to one Module (Unit) and create about 6-8 modules for one course around one topic. For example: Build your Facebook group (this is one of my courses) +I also like adding live 1:1 or group sessions in Zoom, so it is not only recorded content but real time live meeting with me.

To record your content you can use Quicktime, Loom, Camtasia Studio (I use this), Zoom, or any screen recording software. Upload your content to your course platform.

9.) Build your email list
For this you can use free email service providers like: Mailer Lite or Mailchimp or a one price one like: Flodesk
The CRM that I use ($100/month) contains this service, so I don't need other softwares.

Don't forget:
Ready is better than perfect. You can always edit, add, change to your course, update it any time. Just start it!
